Fear of a Black Planet

fearI remember when I first saw this title on an old Public Enemy album and thought about how profound it was. That is the main fear of white supremacy and is the reason they fight so hard. Then I starting thinking about how we are always called minorities when in fact white people are the minority on the planet. The jig is up because if you just do a little research you will find how you have been lied to. Why is this topic important for my Real Black Power is Green series? It is important because you need to change your thinking. If you feel small or inferior, half the work of the oppressor is done. You will never really know or accept your real power.

In the recent aftermath of the uprisings in Baltimore, I am proud of the young people there. If I hear one more speech about nonviolent protest I will scream The main objective of those kids was to be heard not to be called thugs and criminals. Kids scared white folks so bad an Oriole ball game was played in an empty stadium. I wonder how much revenue was lost when a hot dog or a beer or parking was not spent. Hitting the man in the pocket is the bloodless revolution. A few kids terrorized an entire city. And a few days later charges were brought. Is that a coincidence?

Black people have to realize that they have been conditioned to think they have no power or control to be kept in line. It is as if we have been conditioned like the circus elephant. The baby elephant is chained to a post so it can’t get away no matter how hard it tries. The thought is instilled of powerlessness so when the elephant grows up, a tiny rope ties up the huge animal that could pull an entire tent down but the thought never occurs to the animal. Despite our size we believe we have no power.

There are roughly 6 billion people on the planet earth. 46 million .black people are in the US. There are roughly three times that number in Nigeria alone. Did that just blow your mind? Africa is a continent not a country. There are nearly one billion Africans in the motherland. As conscious as I thought I was I didn’t know. We have just as many of us as the Chinese. Media will never tell you that. What about other Africans in other european countries and places like the caribbean, Brazil, Panama, Haiti, Cuba and Australia. Now you get the picture? We are a force to be recond with and never quite knew it. Free your mind and your ass will follow. Stop thinking small.

Africa has diamonds, gold, rubies, sapphires, just to name some of its riches. There are so many resources that I could go on and on about but that is why the motherland has been underdeveloped because THEY don’t want us to control our own stuff. Whyis there poverty with all the wealth around. The same goes here, why are we so so poor after all we have given this country? Wake up and smell the roach spray, there is a plan. It’s time we got one and be willing to die for it because as Malcolm X said the price of freedom is death.

Being Black

Higgins_Bond_AkhenatonI was 11 years old when I found out I was Black. I grew up around Black people and the only white people I knew were the nuns and my teachers at the catholic school I attended. Everything was normal in my world until one day, my white English teacher made me aware I was different. I adored her and I don’t know how it came up but I asked her what would she do if her son married a Black woman and she said, “Oh no that would never happen. I want my grandchildren to look like me.” Wow. That was the beginning of my journey. It didn’t hit me till then even though two years before I had gotten perfect scores on the Iowa Basics tests we had to take and they could not believe a little 9 year old Black girl in an ‘urban’ catholic all Black school could possibly have scored so high. So they sent a representative to my school to test me alone. I did it again so then I was deemed a genius.

So my journey began where I started to read everything I could find about Black people because I wanted to know why would my teacher say such a thing like something was wrong with me. Then I heard my father curse for the first time in my life when we were driving from St. Louis to Memphis and we stopped at this burger shop where they came up to your car to take your order. We sat, and sat and more cars came and went but nobody came to our car. My father was from New Jersey/New York and I guess wasn’t used to the ‘South” so I learned why Black people always had to pack a lunch. I asked why they didn’t come to our car. I remember he never answered and just kept driving.

My little brain computer started putting things together and the more I read, the more I understood. Nothing was wrong with me, something was wrong with white people. My father soon pronounced he would never work for another white man and he didn’t. But as I sit here writing, I can never recall being told why. Too many of us have never been taught what racism is and how we should handle it. We just learn that we are the ‘OTHER’ and you have to work twice as hard to get half as far, You learn early you are BLACK and that means you are not as smart, not as pretty, not as accomplished, not as valuable. You learn, you know how white folks are but you just have to deal with it.

You see most of us have no clue about who we are and what has happened to us. Most of us know more about the holocaust than the centuries of chattel slavery. The pain of our oppression causes us to do one or more of the following:

  1. Internalize and hate self and become Uncle Ruckus, adopt Stockholm Syndrome where we think of ourselves in terms of our oppressor.
  2. Totally deny the existence of race, racism or the existence of Black culture and live to assimilate at every level.
  3. Adopt aspects of one and two-You know some of your history, you understand racism but you–= blame the victim and think that if you just work hard enough all is well.
  4. You understand white supremacy and know the game and how to play it but never give up your dignity. You understand that if you do not work for nation building among your people you will cease to exist.

Remembering who we are is the entire point of Black History Month but it should be a practice we celebrate everyday. We need to stop being in denial, we need to teach our children what racism is and understand that being pro Black is not necessarily anti-White meaning that there are times to be anti white supremacy to preserve your own culture. Going along to get along has gotten us no where. We need to be honest and take responsibility for our own culture and community and figure out what we have contributed positively and negatively in context of understanding systemic racism and white supremacy. We can’t move forward without doing both.

Being Black is being excellent with a love of self and our people throughout the diaspora and knowing we are the true masters of our own fate. This month read my blogs and together let’s dream a world we have created.

64 Years a Slave on the NBA Plantation

nbanbastatsretrieved from http://www.fivethiryeight.com

In 1950 Earl Lloyd became the first black player in the NBA. We already know what he went through. Now 64 years later not much has changed other than the fact that Black Men dominate the game. The players are still owned and traded. Michael Jordan is the only Black owner and as the stats listed show the abysmal representation or should I say non-representation of Blacks in the league speaks volumes. All of it is bullshit-Sterling, the NBA, the players and African Americans. Here is why:

Sterling is a racist asshole from way back. Everybody knows it but he is a billionaire and he can do what the hell we wants. That’s America. Banished means what? If he owns the building they practice in you mean to tell me he can’t go there? A general manager has been appointed. Like Sterling really took care of the day to day ish. Get real. All bullshit. I didn’t like what he said but hell what black person doesn’t work for or with a racist? That’s just real talk. I’ll say later what I think should be a solution to the disrespect. Oh yeah he bought and paid so many African Americans who didn’t say jack. Figures.

The NBA is full of shit too because they know who Sterling is. Always have and the other owners are scared shitless their dirt will be next. Slippery slope my ass. Michael Jordan had a time getting to be an owner and they love his dirty drawers with his sell out ass. Yes I said it, I was done with him when he put the Million Man March down but that’s another blog. The states say only 18% of the office staff is Black. So where are the Black PR people, Black entertainment lawyers, Black administrative staff etc? If Black players are 75 percent of the revenue makers, 75 percent of the employees should be Black too. That’s fair. The NBA got the $2.5 million fine. I wonder how many Black folk will get any of that money? Who are the groups they are contributing to that deal with racism and intolerance and how many Black folks work for them? All bullshit.

The Slaves, I mean Players. For all those thinking they make too much money, you are an idiot. If they are making millions they are generating trillions. They employ the parking lot attendants, ticket outlets, concession stands, beer, Nike, Wilson, jerseys and gear, the cleaning people, the friggin electricity being used. Does your boss pay you at you are really worth? No well my point exactly. One negro like LeBron James does what he wants and they treat him like a slave running up north! I blame the players for just being paid and not demanding shit else. They could make things better for the college players so they get better benefits and unionize. Hell all the pro players should too. Few of them hire their own people as lawyers, publicists, personal managers, etc. Spending their money on white girls and bullshit shows how irresponsible they are and they wonder why they get no respect. If you act like little boys you will be treated as such. Grow a pair and do something for the black boys that look up to you and who will be you one day. The few that do remember who they are are few in numbers.

My solution? Why doesn’t each NBA have a training center/scholarships for every city where a team exists. The NBA is a nonprofit. They could easily fund such a program. No they want players to stay slaves and asleep.

Everyone is at fault in my book and this was no victory for anybody but Sterling because his only crime will be making more money for speaking his racist mind. African Americans really thought they were vindicated. They so glad Massa paid them some attention and white folks really thought they did a lot too. Real Black people got disrespected and know this shit was just a news cycle diversion off Putin. Real Change makes Real Change. When the dust clears, we got nothing.

Niggahs, Coons, Negropeans, African Americans and Black People

I purposefully didn’t write my usual inspirational post for Black History Month this year because I’ve been too angry. I usually write about our African heritage and the legacy of Egypt. I usually write about all of our inventions from the cotton gin to a golf tee. I talk about our achievements in business, science, sports, music you name it. Just think about the fact that what ever we put our minds to we get done from Sistah Bessie Coleman becoming a pilot to the election of our first Black president that would not have happened without us and brown people uniting because 60% of white folks voted against him. What I’m going to write about is my anger and frustration because I have worked hard to personally achieve my goals of education and business. I’ve created positive black images in film and in print. I’ve mentored, marched and put my money where my mouth is. But at 52 I’ve come full circle and I am back as mad as I was when I learned of the struggle when I was young. That’s why I titled this post as I did and I’ll tell you why.The following definitions cover the gamut of the bullshit we bring on ourselves.

Niggahs–They buy what they want, beg for what they need and are so self centered and materialistic they’d vote for slavery today to have a job, three hots and a cot. They are found in every socio-economic level and do nothing but bitch and moan but don’t do shit but that. They will always exist but we have to just use their discretionary income because they will always spend their money on what they are programmed to do.

Coons–They are often niggahs too but so love the white man they have no pride in their race other than what white folks allow them to and will sell their mother for acceptance. Coons say shit like, “we need to thank the white man for slavery because he civilized us” said by
Rev. Jesse Peterson and Sean Hannity loved it. Coons are House Niggahs that always wait for the crumbs from the white man’s table and will never do anything to upset the apple cart or white people. They are sad and should be ignored.

Negropeans are a step above a coon but still have coon-like tendencies because they tend to intellectualize their coondom by siding with conservative or anybody else by using statistics or false arguments that basically are right wing taking points. They play like they really believe we are in a post racial society and that class issues are the real issues. But as Haki Madhabuti said, “Did the class problem rape your grandmother FOOL?” They just can’t deal with the reality of racism, it’s too painful. Allan West comes to mind.

African Americans–These are the politically correct folks that have some traits from the first three types but live and work to be happy. They go to church, get educated, own businesses but their kids have tablets and the best clothes and can’t f*cking read. They will get their hair done rather than pay a utility bill which really is a niggah tendency but they have the money they just don’t pay their bills. Like a coon they are sellouts, always trying to be the head niggah in charge at their job and are tribal as hell. Like a negropean they can articulate issues but at least they have some semblance of knowledge of their history and will cry fowl to racism. Or the conscious African Americans know their history and what has happened but are so busy arguing with another conscious person about the size of the Ankh they are wearing they never get shit done. African Americans are like pigeons though. You know how if you throw a rock at a bunch of pigeons they flutter all up mad but in a few minutes the are right back in the group walking along. African Americans get mad, emotional for a hot second then it’s business as usual with no follow up or follow through. Unity by the issue but in general, do some work, niggah please. They have good intentions but we know where that leads a road to.

Black People are the people I love and emulate. You know who you are and whose you are. You put your money where your mouth is. You support others. You raise your own consciousness and see white supremacy for what it is and fight it with your success and nation building mindset. You dedicate all that you do by saying yes to the questions:

Are you making your ancestors proud by recognizing their sacrifice with your own?

Are you pooling your resources with those of others to leave the world better for the next generation?

Do you recognize white supremacy and its effects and combat it whenever possible?

Do you love yourself and your people equally and are willing to protect and respect your brothers and sisters?

If you answer yes you are Black for real and you are the reason why I will keep turning my anger and frustration into motivation to make this life better right here right now. To hell with Niggahs, Coons, Negropeans and African Americans that won’t unite. Black People Unite because white supremacy would not work so hard to keep you down if you didn’t have so much to give. The jig is up. If Black People lived up to their greatest potential there would be justice and righteousness for all. Free your mind and your ass will follow. Imagine a world that we could create! Make Black History Month everyday!

Dunn is Done

4 second degree ATTEMPTED murder but a young Black man is DEAD. Not attempted to be dead but dead. It’s unbelievable how worthless our legal system continues to deem young Black men. I’ve already been called a race baiter by a white man and a dumb bitch by a Black Negropean so let me get the record straight.

Why are you always race baiting when you call racist white folks out. You created the system and it works for YOU. We all know if a brother shot at 4 white boys and killed one because their music was too loud be it rock or rap, his black ass would be under a jail by now. Stand your ground would not work for him. The sistah in florida that shot a ceiling when her abusive husband came after her got 20 years in 12 minutes. She’s been released but still has to go back to court. So all of you wanting to get rid of the law is not really going to change much because any law in place never applies to us in the same way. Nobody has to bait anybody because Stevie Wonder can see how jacked up the system is and getting angry about it is a perfectly normal response.

To the Negropean that said I was too emotional and had an incomprehensible response, you are typical. First degree murder is based on intent, deliberation and premeditation. The software engineer is not a stupid man and so he intended to kill, he didn’t deliberate long and did it deliberately and premeditation was the fact that he sat in his car and said f it I’m shooting. Murder in the FIRST Degree but the jurors just couldn’t convict. I hope it was due to the Black Jurors that held out as to why there was a mistrial. They couldn’t give this fool a second degree MURDER charge either?

What’s the outcome? The mother of Jordan Davis is a better woman than I am. I pray he gets it the first week he’s in jail. We’ve been waiting on justice for 500 years. No more marches, no more walking slow and singing low, it’s time to fight back on several fronts. We need to:

1. Get the prosecuters fired and unelect Rick Scott

2. Boycott Florida until Stand your ground is repealed

3. Boycott business supporters of ALEC that supported the law

4. Support all the other victims of the law

5. Bust caps in every white person like Dunn or anybody we feel threatened by

Trust me racists aren’t ready to die as quick as they are ready to kill and the moment Mr. Charlie starts getting his ass shot the law will be changed immediately. RIP Jordan Davis and Trayvon Martin, your deaths will not be in vain. Hopefully the brothers inside will see to that.

These Three Words

I’ve been sitting here thinking about what to write for Black History Month. Should I express my complete and utter feelings of anger at every instance of racism I am seeing on a rise in society? Do I rant on the disrespect for everything Black like the celebrity fight of the killer of Trayvon Martin whose death still brings me to tears every time I think of him? Do I rail on Negropeans like Allen West that want to be White so bad he doesn’t deserve to be in the skin he’s in?

There is so much pain, hatred and emptiness to go around. Black History Week that became Black History Month was started by Bro. Carter D. Woodson to make us remember who we are as a people. It’s human to get mired in the hatred that has and continues to oppress us. Daily news reports of death, unemployment, lack of health care you name it we are at the very bottom or the very top of lists that prove very little has changed in this country. Especially power structure for all you Negropeans that beg to differ because you are a house nigger. Basically that scenario hasn’t change much either. House or Field we make that decision early on and live our lives accordingly, I would have been the one always running or grinding the glass for you know what.

As I get older I find the best way to deal is to love yourself and your people MORE. I don’t mean love as a way to passively go through life and take what’s given to you. I mean it as a way to elevate yourself to a level spiritually that makes you fear-LESS. See racism only works when you live in fear. If you fear the White Man he will always control you and you will never be FREE. A good example to me is this past superbowl. The great white hope Peyton Manning was the man of the hour. He had the best offense in the game. They were supposed to win. But their asses got handed to them. Why? Those young brothers wanted it and did not let the world tell then any different. The young quarterback thanked God after the game. If He knows his creator and is the brains behind the plays, Sherman and the others know who they are and whose they are and they shut it down. They love the game and they loved each other. Period.

The lesson to me is when we love ourselves enough to be fearless in our personal lives and live up to our greatest potential, when we express that love to each other there is no racist that can hold us back. The Jig is up and that’s what white supremacy is afraid of. When you are no longer afraid to be who you are their time is up. These Three Words. Saying and believing it of yourself and your people will give you the strength to fight the fight, build your community, spend your money wisely, pool your resources and create strong families.

I LOVE YOU! Happy Black Ourstory Month and Make it Count!

I Love Being Black

I got up this morning just really loving my Blackness. More than usual. LOL. I had dry twisted my hair so I love the way my hair waves up. Then  when I was putting on my shea butter I was like damn I have nice pretty brown skin. I made an Egyptian Eye makeup look too. Wow, Egyptians, builder of the Pyramids were Black and African just like me. Ok, the original name of the motherland was Alkebulan or the Egyptian word for motherland was Afri-uka. But the Romans used the name of one of their generals, Scipio Africanus to rename the continent. See we can never be left alone. White folks is always hating but imitating.

As I left the gym I saw this young brother quarterback, Russel Wilson on the flat screen. He’s kicking ass. Racists always thought a Black man didn’t have the intellect to be a QB. No what I say is that’s the only position they were trying to hold on to but that will soon be history. They know when we are given an opportunity we are always the best. That’s not racist on my part just the truth. That is the key to understanding racism. Fear.

Love your BLACK self. If we were not so good, why do white supremacists try so hard to hold you down and hold you back. Despite the fact that we were stripped of everything we still have a connection to our culture, our language our SWAG. Look at the influence of our music, art, style, language, inventions, creativity and bottom line the jump we gave this country of 500 years of free labor. Our ROI, return on investment, has been minimal at best and it’s time that changed.

When I see red, black, green and yellow I feel the connection. There is nothing I can’t do and no amount of racism can take my love for myself and my people away. Never let another human’s limited view be the reason why you limit yourself. White folks, your mama, your man, your sibling, your teacher, your employer, your friends, your church, NOBODY can stop you from being you. Can’t nobody do like we do! Sonia Sanchez said it best, We a BaddDDD People. Dare to love your BLACK self in all your authenticity.

Bed and Beyond

kerrySeeing a black woman in bed with a white man because she wants to be there is too much to take for some people. Especially some Black Men. I saw some comments recently that really pissed me off and you know I have to respond. The comments basically went there about her dating history and how she and other celebrity women are going white and a lot of other crap. Ok here I go:

1. I love Black men and I personally am not interested in  white men as potential lovers, husbands or anything other than my friends. That’s my preference and I’m not limiting myself or being racist or closed minded. Loving myself and MY man is a good thing and wanting to build a Black family is my duty and responsibility. If you don’t that’s your preference. But if you think dating a White man or any other race is going to automatically affirm you and prove Black men ain’t sh*t then you are in for a rude awakening because if you don’t love yourself ANY man will pick up on it and you will be a booty call. Men are men.

2. Black women have been abused, raped, beaten and disrespected since we got off the slave boat  by ALL men. But it has been exceptionally difficult to swallow the abuse from your own Black Man. We have been called too loud. too rough, a Bitch, a Whore, Nappy headed and ugly by the weak ass, confused, self hating Black men that feel a white woman is the prize and proof of their success  be they corporate execs to rappers and athletes. To you I say on behalf of Sistahs everywhere you can kiss my ass and just like you made your choice, I can make mine. You came from the womb of a Black woman so if you debase her you are one sorry example of a man. When your white girl leaves you when you lose that contract or job, don’t be mad because they don’t do broke. The ones that do pretty much want something else you got and there is always one bigger.

3. For the Brothers that do love Black women and hate seeing the choices many of us are making all I can say is step your game up. Many of us are tired, alone and have decided being loyal to our race over our gender is getting difficult. Black Men and Women need to get real with one another. The games and bullshit has to stop. Face it Sistahs have held out a hellava lot longer than you have. Be the King you are supposed to be and Sistahs like me are not going anywhere. Check the Brothers you know are messing up. But if they persist, They Don’t Deserve Us so let them go. Clean the gene pool.

4. Unfortunately, our racist society would much rather show a white man with a Black woman, or a white woman with a Black man as a false show of racial harmony that doesn’t exist in the heart of most. Show a Black man loving a Black woman? When was the last time you saw that? It’s a reality that media does not show Black love, affection, unity, loyalty, family because you can’t maintain racism and white supremacy if you show Black people as real people. It’s a fact so all the living together, sleeping together and working together hasn’t changed much and it won’t.  Until white supremacy is dealt with we are all just making the motions and all the interracial hook ups in the world won’t change a thing.

Whew! I’m done. I will still be watching Scandal. It’s a damn tv show. Get over it, get over the picture above and everybody needs to love themselves and do what they want because that’s what grown folks do.

Black Folks Burden

What is our burden? Accepting or not accepting White Racism. Plain and simple. Last week I experienced another racist event in my life. Sitting in my car talking to a male friend, a white man came up to the window, peered in and yelled to his significant other to call the sheriff’s department, he sees some suspicious people. My friend jumped out the car with his hoodie on and went off. He turned to me and told me to call the police. Like every Black woman you want to protect. You can see the flashing lights, the police batons, the bullshit and the drama. I got out of the car got my friend and hugged him. He hugged me back and told me he loved me. I told him the same and asked that he please go inside. The show of affection dumbfounded the two white folks. He was going off but went inside. Then they turned to me to try to be more civil, you look familiar they said. That was it. Fuck You, you don’t know me, you are a racist asshole and the only reason you have a problem is because I’m BLACK. Get the Fuck out of my face. Oh now you are playing the race card? My stepdaughters are Black, I’m not a racist. Yeah you are and you are a dumb motherfucker too. Got in my car and pulled off.

As I drove off I started to cry. I thought of all the hate. I thought of my own life and being called a nigger bitch so much at Marquette University it was like a middle name. I thought of how a friend and I in college caught a bus to go try a new restaurant and a truck load of white boys stopped and talked about let’s go get those bitches. My friend was terrified. So was I but I said if anybody touches me they will die today. The white boy got back in the truck and they drove off. I won’t even go into the countless incidents that continue to be a part of my life. It’s funny but many of us have learned to not even admit it because we just want to numb ourselves. At that instant with that white man I was so angry. What white people can’t seem to understand is their disrespect just  based on a look, is infuriating. All the judgement. What if I did the same?

What if I looked at every white person and judged them by all of my experiences of pain and hurt from them? What if I took the easier route of hating them for who they are? But for us, just hating White folks is not easy either. If I just hated their guts, how many academy awards would I need to win to just function. I need their money to live.  Most of what I buy to survive, food, clothes, rent, utilities, gas, whatever I pay to them. White people that hate me can easily navigate and live well in their world.

Our burden is how to deal with the anger so it won’t destroy our self esteem and sanity. Some of us deal by negating the existence period and totally assimilate. White friends, white mate, white activities, total denial. They even talk about Blacks as if they were not. Then you have other self haters that say and do nothing and just take whatever comes their way. You know the type that would vote for slavery because they say we at least we would have a job! The Jesse Peterson type that love Massah and hate themselves. The MOTEASUH Tribe. You want some Mo Tea Suh? Then you have the Black by Day, White by Night coping mechanism. Power to the people but hey, white men/women love me. Then you have the Holy Rollers that think you have to pray away the anger as if praying it away is going to fix it. No doubt our spirituality is what got us through but what we seem to have forgotten is they prayed to get the strength to DO something. Praying for numbness get’s you no where. Then is the crew like me. We know the truth because as Dr. Frances Cress Welsing said you have to know the truth in order to lie. That’s why we can see all the lies we’ve been told. Not to hate the hate makes you inhuman.

How long do we have to cry for Trayvon and every legal manuever that is used against us. How long do you have to say well that’s white folks for ya? How many of us have to die? It’s ok to be mad. You just can’t let it drive you mad. I can’t be numb. I have to feel something and DO something. I don’t give a racist white person any air. White folks better be glad we are not more like them. I don’t want to hear the Kumbayah shit because everybody knows who the racists are. So all yall that want to take up and say not all white people are like that, you know black people do blah blah blah. You are programmed. A white supremest is a white supremest. Our burden is learning how to filter and be righteous regardless of our treatment. Bob Marley said it best, emancipate yourself from mental slavery because none but our selves can free our minds.
